Lassoing the mind

The Sunday’s sermon- as so rarely occurs and so is noteworthy left me quite pensive a few weeks ago. It was about how much our thoughts direct our lives. The challenge of scripture was 2 Cor 10:5 which calls us to “take every thought captive”. Although on a Spiritual, Psychological, and Philosophical level I acknowledge the profound influence thought has on behavior as well as one’s general outlook on life, I must admit to rarely doing anything close to taking my thoughts captive. Instead, I usually let my mind roll with whatever its passing pleasure, only to be surprised when my attitude and actions are out of control. I am not quite even sure of how to begin trying to exert my will over my thought life, but at least I am aware of my profound deficiency in this area of my
