multiplicity diminishing truth

| | Comments (0)

I have noticed this trend in peoples reactions to plurality that I find troubling. When there is a wide vaiety of options on a particular subject, individuals seem to have a hard time stating their own view with any level of conviction. It is as if the multiplicity they see somehow diminishes their own viewpoint. I admire the awareness people have of other persuasions, and acknowledge the hesitation appropraite to asserting one's own view amidst opposition, and yet I eagerly anticipate the courageous voices that attempt to assert truth amidst plurality. The increase in options need not decrease one's commitment to approaching the inaccessible.
